Rolls-Royce - 1928 |
In 1904, Rolls-Royce set out to establish
its automobile as being the world's best.
In 1919, Bentley decided to do the same thing.
While Rolls-Royce was certainly the most luxurious,
Bentley was the most sporting. These two great marques
became one in 1931. They
have now parted again and have chosen separate identities.
Still leaders in quality and performance, the competition
is fierce with Maybach, Ferrari, Aston Martin and others
nipping at their heels and surpassing them in aspects
of performance and price. But Rolls-Royce and Bentley
quality is far far ahead of the competition.
When compared to other luxury cars of the 1950s through
1980s, Rolls-Royce and Bentley held the title "The
Best Cars in The World". What made a Rolls-Royce
/ Bentley "The Best Car in the World" was
the handcrafted, labor intensive coachwork and attention
to detail. Only the finest materials were used to create
the elegant designs. Flawless leather, wood and paint
for those who could afford the best. And that makes
their literature some of the most desirable literature
in the world for collectors.
