As vehicles have evolved for over a
century, so has our approach to collecting car and truck
literature. Up until the last thirty years, few collectors
paid attention to truck literature no matter how cheap
it was. Truck literature was rarely saved since it was
not collectible and therefore rarely available. From
the beginning, a personal bond developed between cars
and their owners that did not develop between company
owned trucks and truck drivers. As individuals began
to own pick-up trucks and as pick-up trucks flourished
on American roads, a personal bond developed. As a result,
interest in pick-ups has grown and is extending to the
significance of light trucks and their big brothers.
Reaching back into history, collectors are searching
for the elusive literature that was once tossed aside.
Few literature dealers are paying any attention to the
requests of collectors, but the interest is growing.
Consequently, truck literature prices are rising.
Can old truck literature be found? Long-time literature
collectors are most likely to be car enthusiasts with
a passion for styling, performance, and sporty and luxury
makes and models. When buying collections, that is what
has traditionally sold best and that is what literature
dealers want to purchase. Most old timers selling their
collections do not have truck literature to sell.
I grew up around trucks when living in a farming area
and my first serious summer time job, while in high
school, was driving a 1940 Ford pick-up for an ice cream
distributor. Later on to big refrigeration trucks. Trucks
have always interested me but I never thought about
looking for the literature until more recently. So when
I found collections of truck literature to purchase,
I did.
We have a vast inventory of pick-up and light truck
literature, but are you aware of the big commercial
truck literature in stock? We are selling more every
year. It is time to point out what you might have not
have noticed.
Below is a selection of big truck literature:
