Spyker has announced it will build
an MINI fighter retro of the ionic 1946 92. The Saab
automobile will continue after what seemed like a lost
cause.
Saab began building airplanes in 1937 and continues
to do so. Production of automobiles began in 1949 with
the model 92. In 2010 Spyker, a producer of high performance
cars purchased Saab from General Motors.
Saab has always been rather unorthodox and displays
a charm of its own with some of Saab's aircraft construction
techniques. The 92 had a two cylinder, two stroke engine
set transversely ahead of the front axle that produced
25 horse power. An interesting start that grew into
a much more traditional car today, but still unique
enough to set itself apart to maintain a solid fan club
base.
