I have probably just lost most of my
audience by indicating that I am writing about trucks.
Back in the 1950s and 1960s, as a literature collector,
I would have completely ignored truck literature. Most
people didn't own trucks. Blue collar workers drove
trucks and they were for hauling things, not for pleasure
and fun. What could have been interesting about truck
I have collected every conceivable type of car literature
for over 50 years and I love sports and luxury makes.
But in the last 15 years or so, I have discovered truck
literature and, believe me, it is fascinating. Obviously
today's trucks are not boring. They are stylish and
even fun. One day Hummers and Dodge Hemi trucks will
be collectible. But wait, look at those 1930s... 1940s...
1950s truck catalogs. They are interesting!
